The Department of World Languages and Cultures strongly encourages all of its students to take part in a study abroad program (summer, one semester/a year) during their course of study at Howard University. Not only do students strengthen existing foreign language skills while abroad, but they also experience the everyday life and culture of the native and sometimes diverse people (white, black, Hispanic, Arabic, Asian, etc.) learning things that cannot be taught in the classroom.
The DWLC offers it own study abroad programs in Spain, Latin America, France, Germany, Russia, Africa (French and Spanish-speaking countries), Haiti, Martinique.
